Writing books (also writing guide or author Guides ') refers to books that the creative writing to teach. Since the 1990s, there has been increasing recognition in Germany that writing, including fiction , can be taught and learned in the same way as painting or making music .

Most writing books are translations of American books, as this idea took hold much earlier in the United States. The authors' house publishing house in particular has specialized in relevant publications. Two thousand and one , on the other hand, has discontinued its journalistic commitment in this area, except for a few titles by Sol Stein .

New writing guides relate to e-books, addressing writing itself as well as marketing.
