Rhagade

A rhagade (from ancient Greek ῥαγάδα rhagáda , 'tear', 'tear', also fissures ) is a smooth, deep tear in the skin that extends into the dermis . It is a pathological change in the skin ( efflorescence ).

causes

Reasons for the formation of a rhagade can be:

• injury
• Dehydration
• cold
• Skin disease (e.g. neurodermatitis )
• decreased elasticity of the skin

Angular rhagade of the mouth

The place of their appearance are often the lips , the corners of the mouth (see corner inflammation ) or the soles of the feet . A rhagade can arise between individual toes , at the transition from the outer ear ( helix [above], ear lobes [below]) to the head, in a joint bend or in the anal region .
