In mammals, the heel (regionally also heel (s) ) is the protrusion on the back of the foot . Their contours are obtained by the heel bone (from Latin calcaneus ) and the overlying adipose tissue and the skin . The heel is the starting point for the Achilles tendon , and the skin is slightly sunken on both sides of it.
