Push rod

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A push rod is a simply supported at both ends rod , which is used to, in a mobile system to the point of application of a force to move against its operating direction (otherwise it would be a tie rod). Components subject to alternating loads, such as the connecting rods in reciprocating piston engines , especially in steam engines, are also referred to as push rods. Push rods are usually slim components that are subject to buckling .

In kinematics , especially with coupling gears , one speaks of links or coupling.
