They compensate for disabilities and / or prevent an impending disability. In the case of shoe finishing, the existing shoe is redesigned in such a way that certain foot complaints are compensated and / or alleviated by processing according to orthopedic specifications, e.g. B.  splayfootbuckle foot , flat footknee misalignmentequinus, etc.

A modification is possible with almost every ready-made shoe. However, an exact consultation with the orthopedic shoemaker or the orthopedic technology mechanic is always necessary. Depending on the clinical picture, a simultaneous supply of insoles is necessary in order to be able to achieve sufficient relief and / or correction.

In most cases, orthopedic shoe adjustments are covered by statutory health insurance . They are recorded and described in the list of aids and are stored in product group 31 shoes. The initial supply is usually limited to three pairs / pieces of adjustments. A follow-up supply is possible after six months and is limited to one pair / piece.

The orthopedic shoe adjustments are divided into four main groups:

Working on the paragraph

  • One-sided heel extension
  • One-sided heel widening
  • Wedge heel
  • Roll-off heel
  • Attaching an existing shoe hanger

Work on raising the shoes

  • Compensation for shortening on the heel (inside or outside)
  • Compensation for shortening in the sole and heel area
  • Unilateral heightening of the sole edge (inside or outside)
  • Removal of a raised shoe

Working on the sole

  • Role with recessed step (toe, ball of the foot, metatarsus, direction and tit eraser roles)
  • Compensation roll for the opposite side
  • Butterfly scroll with paragraph adjustment
  • Butterfly roll with additional soft bedding of the metatarsal heads

Work to relieve, support, cushion and change the shaft

  • Incorporation of a step relief
  • Incorporation of a Haglund heel relief or forefoot padding
  • Shoe bottom stiffener
  • Shoe bottom widening
  • One or two-sided shaft stiffening
  • Attachment of Velcro, zippers or buckles
