The school was founded in 1877 as a primary school. On the facade is the motto "Think what is true. Feel what is beautiful. Wool, what is good." chiseled in.
The school consists of the main building at Lessingstrasse 30–32, an extension with a gym and auditorium on Sankt-Jürgen-Strasse and another school building at Humboldtstrasse 183. The schoolyard is divided into two parts. There is an air raid shelter on the site and a day care center is directly adjacent .
