Schulgan bag
Schulgan-Tasch ( Russian Шульган-Таш , Bashkir Шүлгәнташ / Schülgäntasch ) is a 225 square kilometer nature reserve ( Sapovednik ) in the Ural Mountains in the Republic of Bashkortostan , which belongs to Russia . Schulgan-Tasch is best known for a large cave system with Stone Age cave paintings made of ocher and coal. According to local sources, these are said to be the best-preserved such paintings in Eastern Europe. On the surface, Schulgan-Tasch is 92% forested, the flora contains numerous protected and endemic plant species. There is growing tourism to Shulgan-Tash (23,000 visitors in 2008). The Bashkir beekeeping known in Russia is also presented in the reserve .
