Degree of scaling

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The degree of scaling is a term used in the magazine trade .

In order to make optimal use of the shelf space in retail, the magazines are placed next to each other, overlapping. The degree of scaling is the mathematical dimension of the presentation area per object and indicates how much of each title page is visible. In this way, he determines the relationship between space consumption on the shelf and buying incentive for the customer. It is measured in centimeters. The lower the degree of scaling, the more space is available for the individual title.

The magazines are laid out in such a way that the left part of the title page can be seen, since this is where the title and logo of the magazine are usually located.

In 2009, according to the retail structure analysis (EHASTRA) , the calculated degree of scaling was 9.0 cm, in 2010 it was 9.06 cm.
