Rubble pit

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A rubble pit is a kind of waste pit or garbage pit. Before the ecological change in Germany, many villages and communities had such rubbish dumps . Often the household garbage of the villages or communities was disposed of in sand pits and other earth pits.

Before 1972, the municipalities were responsible for waste disposal , which explains the high number of former municipal rubbish dumps. In each community there were usually one or more community "rubble pits".

To this day, these countless, unsealed rubble pits are an ecological problem and a danger to drinking water .
