Swath

Swath of a satellite.

With swath is in the remote sensing of the housing strip of a satellite called.

The swath width is measured in kilometers on the earth's surface perpendicular to the flight path. She is u. a. depending on the flight altitude as well as the geometric resolution and size of the scanner unit.

Very high-resolution satellites typically have a swath width of 10 to 20 km, geostationary satellites usually cover almost an entire hemisphere.

The swath width is closely related to the repetition rate : the narrower the swath, the lower the repetition rate as a rule.
