The Black Sea Yatagan , or Laz Bichaque , is a sword native to the Caucasus, Turkey, and Kurdistan.
description
The Black Sea atagan has a double-curved, single-edged blade. The blade usually has an interrupted hollow grind that runs just below the back of the blade. It is curved downwards from the booklet to the location and then upwards. The Black Sea atagan has circularly stamped (punched) decorations on the blade, which are typical of this weapon. The blade becomes wider from about the middle towards the location. The handle is made of horn and is usually wrapped in leather and metal wire for a better grip. The pommel is also made of horn and is forked into two tips (see web links). The scabbards are made of wood and covered with leather. The Black Sea atagan is used by various ethnic groups in the Caucasus, Turkey, Kurdistan and North Africa. It is a version of the Yatagan .
