Swiss youth research

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Schweizer Jugend forscht is a Swiss foundation that was founded in 1970 by Adolf Portmann . It is the oldest Swiss foundation of its kind. It encourages young people to realize their potential in various scientific directions. The foundation is funded by the Swiss Confederation, some volunteers and many large companies.

The best known is the national competition. The competition consists of a preselection in autumn and a final round in spring. In the final round, the ratings are good, very good and excellent. Projects with the excellent award are usually rewarded with special prizes. In addition, the work is rewarded with prize money.

Adolf Portmann was a young man thirsting for knowledge who had little means of being able to live out his curiosity about biology. This prompted him, at the age of 70, to hold the first national competition under the name of Schweizer Jugend forscht . Three years later he founded the foundation of the same name.

Today Ralph Eichler holds the office of President of the Board of Trustees. Eichler himself took part in the first national competition in 1967.
