Swiss champions (water polo)
The Swiss champion in water polo is determined in the National League A with eight teams in. The second highest class is the National League B.
The qualification of the NLA championship consists of 3 game rounds, so each team plays 3 times against all other teams. The first round is known as the winter round, because it takes place between January and March and is therefore held in indoor swimming pools. After qualification, the playoff quarter-finals take place first. In these quarter-finals, however, only the 3rd of the qualification will play against the sixth placed and the 4th against the 5th, because the first two teams of the qualification are directly in the semi-finals. The quarter-finals are played in best-of-three mode. The semi-finals and the final will be held in best-of-five mode. The fight for promotion is as follows: The 7th of the NWL plays in best-of-three mode against the 8th of the NWL. The loser of the duel between the two NLA teams is now playing against the two best NLB teams for last place in the National League A.
