Swiss association for hospital, home and community catering
The Swiss Association for Hospital, Home and Community Gastronomy (SVG for short) is the largest Swiss industry association for hospital, home and community catering in Zofingen .
The SVG emerged in 1962 from the IKG (community of interests of canteen managers and Géranten), which was founded by executives on the initiative .

Dedicated experts from community catering came together in 1959 to form an as yet unnamed interest group. The members of the interest group were:

In 1960, fixed structures were created with the establishment of the community of interests of canteen managers and Géranten (IKG). Many potential members - especially the banks and insurance companies with their modern staff restaurants - found it difficult to use the term canteen . In 1962 the IGK was renamed the Swiss Association for Community Catering .
In 1964, representatives of the SVG and the Swiss Hotel Association SHV, together with representatives of Swiss industrial kitchen manufacturers, created the gastronorm that is currently valid worldwide . The SVG is one of the founding members of the international trade fair for community catering IGEHO (founded in 1965, now Igeho).
In 1980, the SVG launched the SVG training course for operations managers in staff restaurants. After the pilot courses in 1980/81 and 1982/83, the course in 1984/85 was recognized by the BIGA. In January 1983 the SVG established the foundation to promote training in hospital, home and community catering . The following objectives are being pursued: offering further training, activities to train new professionals and creating teaching materials and publications. In addition, the SVG, together with other institutions, plays a leading role in the BBT training course for Eidg. Dipl. Operations manager for community catering and is one of the founding members of Igeho. The first President of the Board of Trustees was Thomas Schmidheiny , the Vice President was the then National Councilor Walter Röthlin , who was represented on the Board of Trustees until 2002 - when he was then President.
