from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Swiss Agency for Accreditation and Quality Assurance ( AAQ ) is the institution in Switzerland responsible for accreditation and quality assurance in the Swiss higher education system. AAQ is subordinate to the Swiss Accreditation Council .

history

From 2001 the body for accreditation and quality assurance (OAQ) was responsible for accreditations and quality audits at Swiss universities. With the entry into force of the University Promotion and Coordination Act 2015, the Swiss Agency for Accreditation and Quality Assurance (AAQ) emerged from the OAQ .

Procedure

AAQ differentiates between the following forms of accreditation:

  • Institutional accreditation (internal quality assurance of universities; prerequisite for using designations such as “university”, “technical college” or “pedagogical university”)
  • System accreditation (internal quality assurance of universities in Germany )
  • Program accreditation (examination of bachelor's and master's degree programs as well as continuing education programs)
  • Quality Audit (certification of the internal quality assurance system of universities)
  • Evaluation (voluntary evaluation of study programs or institutions)
  • Guides and quality standards

After completing a procedure, AAQ publishes a report that documents the results of the respective accreditation procedure. Experts play a central role in the process .

Publications

AAQ's publications include analyzes and projects, AAQ Informs , which appears twice a year, annual reports, brochures, media articles and presentations.
