The Swiss Alpine Middle School Davos (SAMD) is a boarding school in Davos in the Swiss canton of Graubünden . The school runs a grammar school and a commercial secondary school for boys and girls.
history
The school was founded in 1878 as the German Fridericianum School Sanatorium and grew to over 200 students in the 1920s. During the Third Reich, the Fridericianum also came under National Socialist influence and was therefore closed at the end of the Second World War .
Due to the commitment of Davos personalities, the school was acquired by the Davos community in 1946 and reopened as the Davos Community Foundation as the Swiss Alpine Middle School Davos (SAMD) .

The school runs a long and short-term grammar school with a linguistic (focus on Latin), natural science (focus on biology / chemistry or mathematics / physics) and economic profile with a focus on economics and law. The Matura certificates entitle you to admission to all faculties of Swiss universities and federal technical colleges without exams .
The commercial secondary school leads to the federal diploma in business administration and the Swiss vocational baccalaureate . The boarding school accepts young people from Germany and abroad.
