Swiss drug side effects center

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Swiss Drug Side Effects Center (SANZ) was a private foundation established in 1979 to record adverse drug effects in Chur . In 2001, after the Swiss Therapeutic Products Act came into force and for a transitional period, its activities were taken over by the federally owned Swiss therapeutic products institute, Swissmedic .

The founders were the Association of Swiss Doctors (FMH, 20%) and scienceindustries . The annual budget was most recently CHF 450,000 .

Incoming reports from medical professionals were provided with expert opinions and finally assessed after supplementing in-house data from the pharmaceutical companies . The assessments were especially requested by doctors and pharmacists.

SANZ was criticized because of the majority of votes of the 'blue professions' in the Board of Trustees. The collection point processed 18,000 reports in the time of its existence.
