Swiss Philosophical Society

The Swiss Philosophical Society (SPG) is the largest philosophical society in Switzerland . It consists of the members of the societies recognized by it and individual members. The SPG is a member of the SAGW and is associated with the FISP . Their seat is the place of residence of the respective president. The current president is Guenda Bernegger.

purpose

The purpose of the SPG is the maintenance and exchange of philosophical knowledge and the amalgamation of the local philosophical societies. It organizes philosophical conferences, in particular the symposium that takes place every two years.

history

The Swiss Philosophical Society was founded thanks to Paul Häberlin's initiative and came into being in 1940 through a merger with the Société romande de philosophie. Since 1946 the organ of the society has been the journal Studia Philosophica .
