Swiss Fire Brigade Museum
The Swiss Fire Brigade Museum in Basel shows the history of fire fighting . The exhibits, which also include permanent loans from the Basel Historical Museum , date back to the 13th century. The focus of the collection is on fire services in Basel-Stadt.
Since January 2010 you can also take a look at the possible future development of the fire brigade in the museum . This sector is impressively represented with the loan exhibit of a fire extinguishing robot.
The museum, which was called the "Basel Fire Brigade Museum" until 1967, has existed since 1957. It is maintained by the Basel professional fire brigade , the oldest in Switzerland, in their premises called "Lützelhof". However, the museum is not classified as a state enterprise and is not run as a separate department in the cantonal administration.
