history

Sumatra false color cigars by Schwering and Hasse, around 1980

The company was founded on January 1st, 1858 by Johannes Carl Hasse, Wilhelm André and Carl Schwering as a producer of cigars. After Wilhelm André left the company for a short time and Carl Schwering passed away, JC Hasse remained as the sole shareholder and over the decades expanded the company into the market leader in Lügde. His son Ernst Hasse and his sons Ernst jr. and Erich Hasse successfully led the company through the economic depths of two world wars. Due to the economic uncertainties at the end of the Second World War, Erich Hasse made contact with the Märkische Kabelwerke in Berlin. This laid the foundation stone for the relocation of cable production to Lügde in 1946/47. Initially, both companies existed in parallel as legally independent companies, with cigar production under Erich Hasse's brother Ernst. In 1954, the cigar factory, which had been dominant until then, was separated in terms of space and administration, so that independent development was possible. Considerable structural changes and also changes in smoking behavior ultimately led to the fact that at the end of 1989 the tobacco products division was sold to Burger-Dannemann . Since then, the business has concentrated completely on the production of round and flat enamelled wires made of copper and aluminum.

SHWire has been operating on the market as the SynFlex Group together with its sister company SynFlex Elektro GmbH and IsoTek GmbH since 2018 .
