Heavy duty ambulance

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A heavy-duty ambulance (S-RTW) is used to transport overweight patients. It has a medical load comparable to that of a normal ambulance and is equipped in accordance with DIN EN 1789 Type C. The difference is that the vehicle is usually built on a truck chassis and some of it also has a tail lift . Sometimes the S-RTW also serve as an intensive care or infection ambulance .

Special equipment

Heavy-duty rescue vehicles have a special stretcher that can carry up to 450 kg. This special stretcher can be adjusted to the length and width of the patient. Patients weighing 140 kg or more are transported with this vehicle. The vehicle is also equipped with a sling that can carry up to 280 kg. It also has a carrying chair that moves over a track system. Furthermore, adequate immobilization systems and, if necessary, additional special equipment for obese patients are often used .
