SciELO ( Sci Entific E lectronic L ibrary O nline) is a freely accessible database from Brazil , the scientific publication of e-journals accumulated. SciELO was founded in 1997 and in September 2016 comprised 1,249 journals with 573,500 papers.

SciELO was the first international database that offered all full texts in Open Access . It contains publications not only from Brazil, but also from most other Latin American countries, the Caribbean and South Africa.

Comparable databases are PubMed and J-STAGE .
