ScienceDirect

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

ScienceDirect is an online scientific database operated by the Dutch publisher Elsevier .

The full-text database contains articles from over 3,500 peer-reviewed scientific journals and over 34,000 books by this publisher. It thus contains a stock of more than 13 million articles or book chapters, which is growing at a rate of almost half a million per year. Documents from other academic publishers have not been identified or are contained in full text.

Access

Most of the documents in ScienceDirect are not freely available. Access for the corresponding group of users is only possible if the relevant institutions such as university libraries acquire licenses for the online use of individual publications. Only the contents of the almost 500 open access journals and individual additional open access articles are directly accessible.
