Scoop is a compilation by Pete Townshend released as ATCO 90063-1-F in 1983 .
Pete Townshend opened his extensive studio archive for a collection of selected demos for the first time on Scoop . The interest in the music-loving public at the time was great, after all Townshend was still considered the leading English rock musician .
Townshend wrote in the booklet:
“For many years of recording was my one and only hobby. [...] It has only been the people close to me who have heard the music I made for myself or by myself. Away from sophisticated studio techniques and repeated soul destroying takes the real joy I get from playing and writing comes through, and that joy is something I want to share. [...] This isn't meant to be a definitive collection, just a scoop . "
The producer named Spike, Helen Wilkins, who produced the album Scoop 3, released in 2001, and who acted as executive producer here. Mike Pela was a sound engineer . Engineering took place at Eel Pie Studios, Soho Studios and Boathouse Studios.
