Scraper site

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A scraper site is a website that has copied much of its content from other sites. The aim is usually to automatically and with little effort create a page that is well placed in the search engine results lists. The scraper site earns from its visitors by displaying advertising (e.g. Google AdSense ).

Search engines such as Google or Yahoo are not scraper sites, as the text content of external websites is only displayed as the result of a search query. The situation is different with search engines, which make their search results pages indexable and link them within the website. Search engines like Google try to recognize such pages for quality reasons and to exclude them from their index.
