Scrimber

A scrimber is a wood-based material that consists of wood particles that were created by non- cutting wood shredding. Here, the round wood is squeezed and usually broken along the fibers, which results in long wood particles compared to wood chips . The particles are glued together under pressure and heat and are processed like lumber .

Scrimber can be made from hardwood , softwood , bamboo or palm . A phenolic resin ( PF ) is usually used.

The name Scrimber goes back to a commercial project and is made up of the words "scrim" and "timber". "Scrim" is a coarse natural fiber fabric that is used for reinforcement in both construction and linen production. It reflects the coarse-fiber character of the crushed raw materials, which become accessible to binding agents when the structure is opened, but still form an interconnected mat. The word "timber" stands for sawn timber and emphasizes the similarities in processing and properties. Since some scrimbers, similar to LVL or PSL, can be used as structural elements,
