Scripture Gift Mission

The Scripture Gift Mission (now SGM Lifewords ) is a Christian British mission company based in London . It was founded in 1888 by the printer William Walter, who wanted to make Bibles freely available. It distributes Bibles , parts of the Bible, Christian books and manuscripts worldwide , especially in the Third World .

In 2004 the Society distributed over seven million Bibles. 90 percent of the distribution was outside of the UK . The distribution and support of the mission is not only done by mission organizations and Christian communities, but also by individuals. The Scripture Gift Mission is currently located in over 25 countries. She distributes Bibles in most of the world's languages.

In 1945 she distributed hundreds of thousands of New Testaments based on the text of the miniature Bible by Franz Eugen Schlachter to the German prisoners of war in British captivity . The Bibles distributed today by the Scripture Gift Mission in German-speaking countries are editions of the Good News Bible .
