Scrooge Festival

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Scrooge Festival is a two-day theater festival in the historic center of Arcen , a suburb of the Dutch district of Venlo .

The festival has been organized by the Arcen Folk Culture Foundation since 2009 in cooperation with the Venlo municipality, entrepreneurs, associations and local people. A total of almost 300 people are involved.

The festival is a revival of London at the time of financiers and miser Ebenezer Scrooge from the famous novel A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens . The idea of this festival comes from Deventer , where the Dickens Festival takes place annually.

The area is set up as authentically as possible to reflect the atmosphere of the novel. Some residents are dressed in the 1843 fashion, while others perform small plays taken from the novel.
