Friedrich Waldemar von Blanckensee (born April 9, 1828 in Zipkow , † April 22, 1906 in Ballenstedt ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

Origin and family

Friedrich Waldemar came from the Neumark noble family von Blanckensee , was the son of Prime Lieutenant Friedrich von Blanckensee (1779-1838) and Cäcilie Auguste, born von Stojentin (1797-1861).

In 1860 he married Mathilde Emilie Sophie von Krause (1841-1919). Several children emerged from the marriage, including the sons Friedrich Willem Waldemar Busso von Blanckensee (* 1861), Prussian lieutenant colonel and commander of Landsturm infantry regiment No. 10 and Cuno von Blanckensee (1862-1938), Prussian major general.

Career

Like many family members, he embarked on a military career in the Prussian Army . This started in 1840 as a cadet in Wahlstatt , where he was released in 1844 and joined the 8th Uhlan Regiment in 1845 . In 1847 he was promoted to porter ensign and in 1849 to secondary lieutenant . During the campaign in the Palatinate and Baden, he took part in the battles at Graben, where he was wounded, at Ubstadt, Durlach and Michenbach, and the siege of Rastatt. In 1857 he rose to prime lieutenant and in 1859 to squadron leader in the 8th Landwehr Uhlan Regiment. also in 1859 he became deputy adjutant in the 2nd division and was promoted to Rittmeister .
