Friedrich Wilhelm Waldemar Cuno von Blanckensee (born November 5, 1862 in Riesenburg , † September 19, 1938 in Stolp ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

origin

He came from the noble family von Blanckensee from New Marks and was the son of the later Prussian major general Waldemar von Blanckensee and his wife Mathilde, née Krause.

Military career

After his upbringing in his parents' house, Blanckensee attended the Progymnasien in Diedenhofen and Saarburg , as well as the Lyceum in Metz . On April 15, 1883, as a three-year-old volunteer, he joined the Leib-Grenadier-Regiment (1st Brandenburgisches) No. 8 of the Prussian Army in Frankfurt (Oder) . Here he was appointed Portepeefähnrich Willisen on November 13, 1883 and promoted to Second Lieutenant on September 13 of the following year . He advanced further and was promoted to captain on January 27, 1899, to be appointed chief of the 11th company.

Blanckensee later served a. a. in the 8th West Prussian Infantry Regiment No. 175 and commanded the 78th Reserve Infantry Brigade from March 23 to August 17, 1918 during the First World War , most recently as major general.
