history

Foundation and further development (1972-2013)

Sealine SC38 (2007-2011)

The English engineer Tom Murrant (1939-2005) became active in boat building because he could not find a motorboat on the market that met his ideas. With the help of a few colleagues, he built a 23-foot cruiser himself in the early 1970s and subsequently founded a small shipyard ( Fibrasonic Marine Ltd ). Production began in Bobbington in 1972 and was relocated to a larger facility in Kidderminster , West England, in 1978. Also in 1978 Fibrasonic Marine brought out a first model under the newly created brand name C-Line , which in 1979 became the final brand name Sealine . With the 30Fly and 285 Ambassador , Sealine became known beyond the UK in the early 1980s .

In 1998 Tom Murrant and his partners sold the shipyard to an English investor group led by industrialist Gerard Wainwright. Just three years later, the company was sold to the US Brunswick Corporation . In 2004 Sealine presented its largest yacht to date with the T60 flybridge model . In 2011 Brunswick separated from their English motorboat daughter. The US-based Oxford Investment Group became the new owner . Sealine was forced to file for bankruptcy in the spring of 2013 due to the continued decline in sales as a result of the global financial market crisis from 2007 and a weak capital base. The search for a new investor for the entire company was unsuccessful. The location in Kidderminster, which recently had around 300 employees, then had to be closed.

In the summer of 2013, the investment holding company Aurelius SE , Munich, acquired the brand along with production forms, model plans, parts lists and equipment from the bankruptcy estate of the shipyard in England for its subsidiary HanseYachts AG . Since then Sealine has been one of seven brands in the HanseYachts group. In 2014, production of the acquired models S380 , F380 , S450 and F450 was started at the Greifswald parent plant. The management also agreed to work with the British yacht designer Bill Dixon. The first S330 and C330 models designed by Dixon came on the market in 2014/15.
