Second Approach (also Second Approach Trio , Russian Второе Приближение ) is a Russian jazz band that has existed since the 1990s around the pianist / percussionist Andrei Razin ( Russian Андрей Разин ), the bassist Igorushkin ( Russian Игорь Игорь the singer Tatiana) and the Pianist Ivan Komova ( Russian Татьяна Комова ).

Band history

The formation Second Approach developed as a project from the cooperation between the pianist Andrei Razin and the singer Tatiana Komova in 1994, when Razin was involved in a CD production by her duo Romen. In 1996 Komova was again involved in Razin's album The Second Approach , which contained piano-vocal versions of classical pieces. Bassist Igor Ivanushkin joined the band project. The trio performed at numerous festivals in the following years and toured in Russia and later in Western Europe. The Moscow Jazz Journalists' Association named The Second Approach a discovery of the year 1999. In addition to their trio productions with references to classical, jazz and folklore, they also played with guest musicians such as Arkady Shilkloper , Roswell Rudd and Alexey Kozlov .
