Taylan Burcu (born May 26, 1985 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German politician from Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen and a member of the Hessian state parliament .

Life

Burcu was born in Frankfurt am Main, the youngest of four children. His parents came to Germany as guest workers from Turkey in the late 1960s . Taylan Burcu belongs to the Alevi faith and is of Kurdish descent . He has had German citizenship since he was eleven . Burcu is married and the couple has a son.

After graduating from the Max-Beckmann-Gymnasium in Frankfurt, he studied law . During his studies at the Goethe University in Frankfurt , he worked for the Wiesbaden Workers' Welfare Association in the “Everyday Angel” project, which looks after the reintegration of the long-term unemployed into the labor market. He then worked in a law and notary's office and was most recently managing director of a non-profit company under independent sponsorship.

In 2014 Taylan Burcu joined the party Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen and in 2015 was elected spokesman for the local association (district group) “Frankfurt Nord-Ost”.

In the local elections in Hesse in March 2016 , he won a mandate in the local advisory board "Frankfurt Nord-Ost" and at the same time moved into the Frankfurt city council . Here he was, among other things, a member of the Presidium, the Legal, Administration and Security Committees as well as Environment and Sport, and was particularly concerned with domestic and security policy.

In the state elections in Hesse in 2018 , he ran in the constituency of Frankfurt am Main VI and received a mandate as a member of the Hessian state parliament via the state list of his party . In his constituency, Burcu achieved a first vote result of 21.2%.

Burcu is migration, integration and refugee policy spokesman for the parliamentary group of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen Hessen . He is a member of the Presidium and Council of Elders of the Hessian State Parliament, as well as its social and integration committee, the petitions committee and as chairman of the subcommittee for expellees, resettlers, refugees and reparations.

In December 2019, there were allegations against Burcu that he had violated the rules of conduct and transparency of the Hessian state parliament. Burcu has therefore given false information about the duration of his previous activity as managing director of AWO ProServ gGmbH, a subsidiary of AWO Wiesbaden. After a review by the Presidium of the State Parliament in January 2020, however, these allegations could be refuted.
