Secure Interoperable Chip Card Terminal

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

As Interoperable Secure Chip Card Terminal ( SICC-terminal ) may be card readers referred satisfying the accompanying specification. This specification was developed by the “SICCT” working group of TeleTrusT - Bundesverband IT-Sicherheit eV. The specification describes a smart card terminal with a generic system architecture.

function

A SICC terminal is a universally applicable chip card terminal with the option of operating card terminals via various connection options such as RS232 , USB , Ethernet 802.3, etc. The following additional properties of a SICC terminal should be mentioned:

  • There is a high level API (usable instead of deeper interfaces such as PC / SC , CTAPI)
  • Administration via the network is possible
  • There are two modes:
  1. MKT instruction set
  2. Extended API.

As of May 3, 2006

The SICCT specification is the basis of the specification “eHealth terminal based on SICCT for the German health care system” which is currently being created for the telematics infrastructure of the electronic health card.

SICCT part of a so-called trusted viewer , the users to be signed indicating data and the details of the signing process via a trusted component. The signature creator does not necessarily have to use this Trusted Viewer for every signature, but can decide independently if necessary.
