Seddon Atkinson was a British commercial vehicle manufacturer from Oldham . Production in Great Britain was discontinued in 2004, and the vehicles sold under the Seddon Atkinson brand were manufactured in Spain from this point in time until the brand was discontinued in 2006.

Seddon Atkinson was born in 1970 when the Seddon Diesel Vehicles Ltd , the company Atkinson Vehicles took over. In 1974 the company was acquired by International Harvester (IHC). The company kept the Atkinson logo , a capital A in a circle, as a distinguishing mark. In 1986 Seddon Atkinson was taken over by the Spanish ENASA , which in turn was taken over by IVECO in 1992 .

With the 400 series , the company presented the first newly developed model series. It comprised two, three and four-axle vehicles and a two-axle tractor unit. With these vehicles Seddon Atkinson covered the area of ​​heavy trucks. As engines came mostly diesel engines of Gardner used. The vehicles in this series had tilting cabs. The 200 series followed in 1976 , designed for payloads of up to 17 tons . The two-axle vehicles were offered with different wheelbases . The engine used was the D358 , a diesel engine from International Harvester . The 300 series , which comprised three-axle vehicles with gross vehicle weights of up to 24 tons , was aimed at the medium-duty truck market segment from 1978 onwards.

From 1982 the series mentioned were replaced by the series 201 , 301 and 401 . The vehicles remained in the production program until the mid-1980s and were subject to constant model updates. At the end of 1981, the Atkinson production facility in Walton-le-Dale was given up.

The 2-11 replaced the 201 from 1986 . The two- and three-axle models with different wheelbases covered the payload range from 16 to 24 tons. The cab was built by Motor Panels Ltd. delivered from Coventry . Standard was a Perkins - Phaser diesel engine is that with turbocharger was offered. The chassis was widely used in the UK as a chassis for garbage trucks , mostly manufactured by Britannia Trucks . Also in 1986 the series 301 and 401 were replaced by the revised 3-11 and 4-11 .
