The Hasenberg lake water works is a historic building in Stuttgart . It is located between the streets of Hasenbergsteige and Rebenreute.

history

The waterworks was built in 1874 on the initiative of the royal building authority of the fountain community according to plans by the building director Karl Ehmann and in 1879 became the property of the city of Stuttgart. Due to the unexpectedly high price of land, high iron prices and labor wages, the costs for the construction exceeded the amount of 70,210 florins initially planned and approved on March 2, 1872 by a  considerable amount.

The waterworks is almost in its original condition and consists of a caretaker's house, a measuring station, a filter basin and a pumping station. In this waterworks , water from the park lakes was once treated in filter basins. Originally, households were supplied with cooking water. From the 1920s, drinking water was also treated. The plant also guaranteed sufficient extinguishing water capacity for the fire brigade. The Hasenberg lake water works is now used as a storage tank. It is used to supply water to the center of Stuttgart and the Stuttgart-West district .
