Very late acoustically evoked potentials
Very late AEP (SSAEP) are a subgroup of the acoustically evoked potentials and arise in the association centers that are downstream of the cerebral cortex. Their running time calculated from the start of the stimulus is> 300 ms. They can only be measured if the test person knows that a stimulus is to be expected and focuses on it ("expectation potential"). SSAEPs look very different in different test subjects, even if they can hear completely normally: There are no typical wave formations. The SSAEP cannot be assigned to an anatomically defined place of origin. Given their variability and complex measurement, SSAEPs are rarely used clinically.
