The Seiser Mill is a former mill building in the Lower Austrian municipality of Markt Piesting . At the beginning of the 21st century it was converted into a school building for the secondary school and expanded. The old building has been a listed building since 2006 .

history

The mill was built in 1864 on the north bank of the works canal. Franz Seiser appears as the owner. In 1895 the building complex was expanded to include the manor house with a neo-baroque facade. The buildings were badly damaged during the Second World War and the billeting in the post-war period. In 1987 the municipality of Piesting bought the building, which was already badly dilapidated, and planned the construction of the secondary school at this point, including the existing buildings. The renovation and partly new construction lasted from 1998 to 2000 and was carried out by the municipalities of Waldegg , Markt Piesting and Wöllersdorf-Steinabrückl with support from the state of Lower Austria (school and kindergarten fund). A large part of the historical building fabric could be preserved. The existing ceiling and floor elements were partially integrated in the classrooms.

The dining room of the former manor house with its historical furnishings has been used as an event room since 2016. One of the side rooms of the dining room was redesigned as the Kuppelwieser Museum. The museum shows some of the artist's important works and documents his life story.

Destiny linden tree

Linden tree on the grounds of the Seiser mill

When the secondary school was rebuilt, an old linden tree had to be felled on the site of the Seiser mill. The trunk of this linden tree was designed by a group of Piestinger hobby carvers (Christa Lisy, Imrich Casta, Kurt Weeber and Josef Drasch) over a two-year period to create a wooden sculpture of the destiny linden tree . In November 2016 the sculpture had to be removed due to internal deterioration.
