The Seissenschmidt GmbH (previously Seissenschmidt Aktiengesellschaft) based in Plettenberg is a company of the automotive supplier industry . The production program includes, among other things, precision components for gears, engines, differentials, axles, cardan shafts and other areas of application in drive and chassis. Seissenschmidt is a subsidiary of the Canadian Linamar .
history
The Seissenschmidt company was founded in 1846 by Hermann Bernhard Seißenschmidt as a supplier of products for the railway industry, heating construction and prestressed concrete construction, among others. The conversion to an automotive supplier began in 1965 with the investment in the first fully automatic horizontal multi-stage press for hot forming. Fully automatic horizontal multi-stage presses are used for large-scale production, with which around 11,000 forgings can be produced per hour.
In mid-2015, based on a resolution by the general meeting of the stock corporation, Seissenschmidt GmbH was created by transforming the legal form of Seissenschmidt Aktiengesellschaft. Seissenschmidt has been part of the Canadian automotive supplier Linamar since the beginning of 2015.

In addition to Seissenschmidt GmbH, the Linamar Seissenschmidt Forging Group includes the subsidiaries Seissenschmidt Components Processing GmbH + Co.KG, also based in Plettenberg, Seissenschmidt Heat Treatment GmbH in Halver, Linamar Forgings Carolina Inc. in the USA and Seissenschmidt Precision Components Kft. in Hungary. In 2018, around 1,300 people were employed across the group.
