Side flutter

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The thrashing ( engl. Thrashing ) referred to in the computer science a phenomenon that in virtual memory management by lack of available main memory for a computer program is created. It takes more time to move data from the main memory to the hard drive than to carry out the actual calculations. If more data is processed in a short period of time than the (main) storage space is available, a “flutter” arises due to the constant swapping out and re-reading of this same data.
