The Seiwa Seisaku Kenkyūkai ( Japanese 清和 政策 研究 会 , German "Seiwa Political Research Council", in short: Seiwakai or Seiwaken ) is a faction within the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP). It has been the LDP's largest faction for several years. It has been chaired by Hiroyuki Hosoda since 2014 and is mostly referred to as the Hosoda faction ( 細 田 派 , Hosoda-ha ).

The Seiwa Seisaku Kenkyūkai was originally founded in 1979 as Seiwa-kai under the leadership of Takeo Fukuda and brought together parts of the Kishi faction of Nobusuke Kishi, which was split in 1962 . Origin of Faktionsnamens is the phrase "If the government clean, the people are in harmony." ( まつりごと清ければ人おのずから和す, Matsurigoto Kiyokereba Hito onozukara wasu ; chinese  政清人和 ) Chinese politician Zhuge Hui ( 諸葛恢 ; Japanese Shokatsu Kai ) of the Jin Dynasty , which is summarized in the short form Seiwa ( 清和 ).

With Yoshirō Mori, Jun'ichirō Koizumi , Shinzō Abe and Yasuo Fukuda , the faction provided the party chairman of the LDP and Prime Minister of Japan from 2000 to 2008 without interruption. During their tenure, however, the party leaders and prime ministers of Japan do not officially belong to any political group. From 2007 to 2008, when Machimura was chief cabinet secretary under Yasuo Fukuda, he shared the chairmanship with Hidenao Nakagawa and Shūzen Tanigawa . In 2009 he took over sole management again.
