UN Security Council resolution 1786
The Resolution 1786 of the UN Security Council is a resolution to the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia , which the United Nations Security Council has adopted unanimously at its 5785th meeting on November 28 of 2007. With the resolution of the former special prosecutor of the United Nations to investigate the assassination attempt on the convoy of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafiq al-Hariri , the Belgian prosecutor Serge Brammertz , the successor to the Swiss prosecutor Carla Del Ponte determined that the tribunal of his own 31 December 2007 leaves.
Brammertz had been nominated for the post by United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon (document S / 2007/678).
The panel relied on resolution 1775 (2007) and appointed Brammertz to its function for four years, subject to earlier resolutions 1503 (2003) and 1535 (2004) , which order the tribunal to suspend all judicial proceedings of the first instance until December 31 To end in 2008 and to complete the work of the Criminal Court in 2010 and plan accordingly.
