Selvarasa Pathmanathan
Selvarasa Pathmanathan (born April 6, 1955 in Kankesanthurai , Ceylon ; actually Shanmugam Kumaran Tharmalingam ) is the current leader of the Sri Lankan separatist organization Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE). His predecessor was Velupillai Prabhakaran , who was killed in the civil war in May 2009 . Pathmanathan had left the country in the early 1980s and served as the LTTE's chief financial officer and arms dealer in exile. On August 5, 2009, he was arrested under unexplained circumstances in a South Asian country and taken to Sri Lanka, where he has been detained ever since.
