SemanticGov was an EU-funded project of an international consortium consisting of twelve organizations (companies and research institutions) from seven countries, which aimed to improve the public administration of the European Union with the help of Semantic Web Services .

The main aim was to simplify both national and international administrative matters such as administrative procedures for citizens. Furthermore, inter-agency cooperation should be facilitated and improved. SemanticGov used knowledge from the field of Semantic Web and Semantic Web Services . The project started on January 1, 2006; the term was 40 months. The budget was € 4,375,000.00, of which the EU financed € 2,720,000.00. The project ended on April 30, 2009.
