Sembrouthes

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Sembrouthes was a king of the Aksumite Empire in Africa and probably ruled in the second half of the third century. So far it is only known from an inscription in Greek, which was found at Daqqi Mahari , a little north of Aksum . The text of the short inscription reads:

King of the Kings of Aksum, Sembrouthes came (and) consecrated (this inscription) in the year 24 from Sembrouthes, the Great King.

So Sembrouthes ruled for at least 24 years and he is also the first ruler of Aksum with the title of King of Kings .
