Seminis Vegetable Seeds, Inc. is the world's largest breeder, producer and marketer of seeds for fruits and vegetables with a market share of more than 20 percent .
history
The company, based in Oxnard (California, USA), was founded in 1994 as a merger of the Asgrow and Petoseed companies . In March 2005, Seminis was acquired by the Monsanto group for 1.4 billion US dollars (including debt assumption, plus a performance-based payment of up to 125 million US dollars in 2007). The company has been part of Bayer AG since 2018 through the takeover of Monsanto .

Seminis has more than 3500 seed types and varieties of around 60 fruit and vegetable species in its product portfolio.
