Sentinel Species
As a sentinel species is known creatures (often animals ), on hazards for human attention. Usually they are used in a targeted manner. Two properties of the living beings in question can be exploited.
- Animals often have much better sensory perception than humans. With appropriate conditioning , this can be used.
- It measures how living things physiologically react to a potentially dangerous situation. They are therefore exposed to potential danger on behalf of humans.
Animals that are at risk are also known as marker animals .
