Josef Wolkerstorfer , also Sepp Wolkerstorfer (born September 1, 1905 in Linz ; † May 20, 1990 there ) was an Austrian hat maker, entrepreneur and politician ( NSDAP ). From 1938 to 1940 he was mayor or lord mayor of the city of Linz .

Life

After completing his hat-making apprenticeship with a master craftsman's examination, Wolkerstorfer ran a workshop and a men's fashion store on Landstrasse in Linz. On May 1, 1933 , he joined the NSDAP (membership number 1.450.844) in Linz and organized National Socialist rallies; From 1935 to 1938 he was the illegal district leader of the NSDAP Linz.

After the National Socialists came to power in March 1938, the former Christian Social Mayor Wilhelm Bock was deposed by the National Socialists and Sepp Wolkerstorfer was appointed head of the city. From 1938 Wolkersdorfer was also a member of the SS (membership number 308.204) and SS-Obersturmbannführer in 1939, as well as a member of several supervisory boards and boards of public companies ( ESG , Linz Local Railway, etc.).

in December 1939 he was deposed as mayor and in 1940 Leopold Sturma was appointed, whose deputy he remained until 1941. In 1941 he became deputy director and authorized signatory of the Reichswerke Hermann Göring .

After the end of the war he was interned by the Allies and there were several trials and also Wolkerstorfer's conviction for high treason in 1948. In later years he worked as a wine merchant and wine house owner.
