Serge Kakudji

Serge Kakudji (* 1989 in Kolwezi , Democratic Republic of the Congo ) is a Congolese opera singer in ( countertenor ).

Life

Kakudji was already drawn to opera as a young boy, and at the age of seven he sang in a children's choir in Lubumbashi . At the age of only 17 he represented his home country at the first International Festival La Voix in Harare , organized by L'Alliance Française and the AFAA.

In May 2011 he took over Tolomeo in Handel's Giulio Cesare in Egitto at the Royal Opera in Versailles . In June 2012 he sang the role of Amore in Monteverdi's L'incoronazione di Poppea at the Teatro Real in Madrid , and in May 2013 the same role at the Opéra National de Montpellier .

On June 10, 2014 he achieved a great personal success at the world premiere of the Coup fatal project, which he helped to create, at the Vienna Burgtheater - as part of the Wiener Festwochen - and there were standing ovations . With baroque music , Kakudji wanted to bring charges against the disturbance of the peace in my country and denounce the rape of women and the violence against children.
