Sergei Alexejewitsch Tschuchrai

Sergei Alexejewitsch Tschuchrai ( Russian Сергей Алексеевич Чухрай ; born May 31, 1955 in Kuibyshevka-Vostochnaja ) is a former Soviet canoeist , he was a three-time Olympic champion and three-time world champion.

Sergei Tschuchrai won his first world championship medal in Mexico City in 1974, where he received the silver medal with the 4-by-500-meter kayak relay. Two years later, Chuchrai won his first Olympic gold medal when he won the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal with Alexander Degtjarjow , Yuri Filatow and Volodymyr Morozov in a four-kayak.

At the 1978 World Championships in Belgrade, Tschuchrai won the bronze medal over 500 meters and the gold medal over 1000 meters together with Vladimir Trainikov . The following year he won a complete set of medals at the World Championships in Duisburg. Together with Wladimir Parfenowitsch he won over 500 meters. In a two-person kayak over 1000 meters, he and Trainikow received the bronze medal. Tschuchrai achieved a third place on the podium in a four-kayak over 500 meters with second place. At the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow , he and Vladimir Parfenowitsch won the two-man kayak competitions over 500 meters and 1000 meters.

Tschuchrai won his third world title in 1982 in Belgrade in a four-kayak over 10,000 meters. In 1983 he won a silver medal in the four-kayak over 500 meters and a bronze medal over 1000 meters at the World Championships in Tampere.
